President-elect Barack Obama says he will bar pork-barrel projects from the massive economic stimulus bill he wants Congress to pass.
Sure he will. Most certainly the members of Congress will go along with that direction. NOT!!!
They have to support it because they want to show that they are supporting our new President and his new vision. They will look like hypocritical idiots if they don't support him!
THINK POSITIVE!
No, there will need to be earmarks. It's the only way they can buy the votes they need to pass it.
Not every Democrat is going to vote yes, they will need to buy some Republican votes.
The key comment in this article is: "He will be making his stimulus proposal available on the Internet with a search function to show each proposed project or program by congressional district." That's exactly what will give congressional legislators pause before trying to push earmarks. The PEOPLE of America who elected them will see their every move. BRAVO! I love it.
They couldn't get the last stimulus bill's approval by the GOP UNTIL there was pork in it!
countyourblessings-309588, you are right! "He will be making his stimulus proposal available on the Internet with a search function to show each proposed project or program by congressional district."
This is exactly what we need. If the right information is easily available the politicans will have to do what's best for their district or else they won't make it to their next term.
Put it all out on front street and then the people can decide who stays and who goes. Good plan... now make it happen!
First of all I think throwing more monopoly money at the problem will not solve it.
That being said, I'll be interested to see if this could possibly go through with no earmarks. I can't see it happening. If enough of the tax cuts go to businesses some republicans may go along with, but I don't think there's enough in there. Too much is just handouts for low income earners/dem voters.
Texas has more roads than any other state, so we should be getting more money than other states on this "infrastructure repair", but we're a red state, so I don't see that happening either.
If anyone doubts there will be pork in this bill, you NEED to see this interview question. He basically promises Republicans specific earmarks in exchange for their votes.
Obama interview answer:
kathy, more democrats also voted for the stimulus package after earmarks were added. And please don't forget, the MAJORITY of democrats voted in favor of the $700 billion package (plus approx $150 billion in earmarks) while the MAJORITY of Republicans voted AGAINST it.
Carl, I haven't looked at you tube as of this writing but will. Says in article he's going to use the tax cuts kind of like "earmarks" to get GOP votes. I don't think there's enough in the tax cut part for businesses though. too much for low income non tax payers in the way of simple handout.
Boy, it's sure funny how things can change. When Bush but his stimulus package together, every Democrat in the country tied pork barrel to it and refused to pass it if Bush tried to take it out.
As we all know the Democratic party is like a Camillion They can change color on a dime. But, they sure know how to show their true colors today with the Senate nomination. Reid once again as but his foot in his and the Democratic Parties mouths. They don't have any power to stop this nomination. Boy I'm looking forward to the next 2 years before America will wake up and start sending these idiots home.
If you realy take a look at what Obama is planning, it's no different than Bush. Oh... maybe not exactly, he's going to turn America in to one big Welfare country. Amen to that.
How can you repair the economy when we have a fiat monetary system. If he wants to fix the economy he needs to end the Federal Reserve and return us to sound fiscal policy. The Federal Reserve is a private banking cartel made up of banks like Chase, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Lehman Bros. Aren't these the same banks that we just bailed out?
Remember FDR did the same thing in creating jobs during the depression and wound up keeping us in the depression for 10 years. Let the free market correct itself. Governmental interference put us in this position and will only keep us there.
YouTube Peter Schiff and see how he lays it all out for you.
How can you ban earmarks when this whole thing is an earmark. I guess this is earmarknoics?
Sounds good to me so far.
I am okay with this plan as long as not a single penny of my tax money goes to pay somebody's mortgage. I don't even make enough money to buy my own house, let alone make someone else's mortgage payment.
There is NO WAY he will keep anyone in congress from adding earmarks to ANY bill submitted to him. He, and every President from him on, needs the line-item veto!
Paul-while you are certainly cynical it appears you lack an understanding of the function and structure of the Federal Reserve. I suggest some critical reasoning and studying might help.
PS-the current mess is largely the result of the free market.
Avoid the pork and give the break to those who've earned it and need it, just announce a 6 month tax holiday.
Money will stay in the economy and the grubby fingers of politicians can't touch it and siphon off anything for themselves.
Begin again in 2010.
He's banning pork from a bill made of HAM?? Stimulus bills are nothing but pork! They don't put money into any essential government service. It's just a 3/4 trillion dollar government intervention. You can't keep throwing money at this issue. It's not accomplished anything yet.
What senator or representative is going to care if the American taxpayer floats another $850 billion project? Hell, they get paid whether this ludicrous idea fails or succeeds. When the economy tanks further they can just go ahead and give themselves another raise to offset the inevitable inflation. This is still just another version of trickle down economics. Unless the government is going to hire everyone directly this plan is still going to be overseen by a group of tight and friendly contractors who are going to make a hell of a lot more on this spending than the actual worker. Does Halliburton/KBR ring a bell with anybody? Talk about waste and abuse.
Cheney=Haliburton=Abuse of power=Conflict=Bush
Yeah it rings a bell and no one seems to want to think about that one.
That's what NEEDS TO STOP, the EFFEN BUYING OF VOTES!
You buy/sell a vote, "TAKE A LONG walk buddy" should be his action afterwards!
I HATE THIS $HIT!
Vote because you should, YES or NO. Not IF Someone Pays you off. That is EXACTLY how we got into this MESS!
Mel and others who might be skeptical....President Obama is a very smart guy. It will be very hard to 'fake him out'. There are many Republicans who are trying to undermine any economic stimulus plan because they won't get 'their piece of it'.
The discussion today in the House and Senate has gone from the ultra-conservative to the very left liberal, but one thing is absolutely certain - as more is known about the greed and failures of our financial and manufacturing sectors, the more it is obvious that the PEOPLE must take the government to task....take it back. We will not survive if we let the crooks, power brokers, and out right thieves get their way.
Not to mention more government employees of his chosing to go on this economic recovery board.........but no pork. And he thinks the Senate and Congress will pass it? This I've got to see!
What will happen will be some fast footwork on who gets the contracts just like N Mexico's investigation is about. Then there will be whose district gets the most of the money for repairs and how much each one of them can brag to their voters that they've done for us.
Bush cut the pork projects and look how popular he was and how they slammed him for it. Child health care ....... just terrible the Senator in our districe claimed but then the Senator sent us full color brochures with his own picture on expensive light cardboard high gloss paper and in fine print on the bottom "postage and handling paid for the taxpayers of the USA" He spent more on that brochure than 50,000 kids health care would have cost! But blamed Bush for not approving a health care plan for kids that was loaded with pork.
Uh, Kathy? The Dems were in the majority. They DIDN'T NEED the GOP to back it. Care to look over the numbers again?
And your new saviour himself said that earmarks weren't a big deal when he was still trying to get elected.

No Pork...yeah right... saying no Pork and either party is a joke. Can anyone say Barney Frank and 300 million to a small school in Ma? Both parties are hypocrites- that's how things work in getting elected and then working in Congress and the white House.
To paraphrase an old TV show- "The names have been changed to protect the sleezballs that are guilty." I guess, ultimately, we are to blame.
The source for the Frank buggering of America is the Boston Globe.
And to make it clear, I could care less about who he takes Viagra for. Everyone deserves the right to marry.
America get ready to bend over and grab your ankles but then we should be used to it.
Finally, anyone who thinks Obama is different hasn’t lived in Chicago and seen the corrupt Chicago machine. Oh, he may speak well with a teleprompter and wear expensive suits that cost more than most of you make in a week, but he is nothing more than a classy veneer of a corrupt political machine.
Publishing the details on the Internet to the people is certainly a positive step and so far Obama seems to be trying to be a positive force for the nation. I wish him well. I do however have my doubts that the stimulus plan will help to get us out of the Depression we are in. The tax cuts are just a ploy, the other projects will take to long to get started, and this stuff didn't get us out of the last depression. Washington continually ignores the fact that the People are in need of the stimulus. Giving it to corporations and governments will never work because they just waste the money and line their own pockets!
Will we be able to read through all the political reteric and the thousands of pages ! Especially in 30 minutes to midnight of the vote. They vote in the middle of the night JUST BEFORE THE CLOCK STRIKES 12 !
Why do you think our tax code is 6,800 pages ? They don't read all that crap! Hit the High Points, keep your eye's peeled at the bottom of the door ! IT'S LIKE MAJIC !
The only thing that will be stimulated will be your anus!
People are starting to learn that the Federal Reserve is a PRIVATE bank that prints money out of thin air and every dollar printed equals a dollar of debt because the Federal Reserve LOANS the printed money to the Government AT INTEREST. $775 billion stimulus equals $775 billion more in debt this country will go. This fractional reserve system that was swindled into law in 1913 can only last about 100 years and that time is now up. Adding more money is putting gasoline on the fire and it is being done ON PURPOSE.
Here is a great article:
The Federal Reserve Bank: It's Not what you Think and Who Owns it?
December 03, 2008
By Vincent Gioia
In Part One of this series I said I would tell who owns the Federal Reserve Bank and that you would be surprised. As I said, the Federal Reserve is a private company of bankers with twelve branch banks that confiscate our money and they have been doing this for almost a hundred years. They are not part of the United States government but they collect hundreds of billions of dollars from the American taxpayers every year, trillions in total, and they have never been audited and they do not pay taxes on profits.
Representative Louis T. McFadden, Chairman of the Committee on Banking and Currency for 12 years is quoted in the Congressional Record as saying:
"The Federal Reserve Board, ..., has cheated the Government of the United States and the people of the United States out of enough money to pay the national debt...Our people's money to the extent of $1,200,000,000 has within the last few months been shipped abroad to redeem Federal Reserve Notes and to pay other gambling debts of the traitorous Federal Reserve Board and the Federal Reserve Banks ... "
So who are the masters of the Federal Reserve Bank who receive these huge profits; they include an impressive list of Foreign owned banks and investment houses, and domestic banks.
If you don't believe The Federal Reserve (FED) is a PRIVATELY OWNED, organization; check the ENCYCLOPAEDIA BRITANNICA.
The owners of the 12 Central Federal Reserve Banks are:
- Rothschild Bank of London
- Rothschild Bank of Berlin
- Lazard Brothers of Paris
- Israel Moses Seif Banks of Italy
- Warburg Bank of Amsterdam
- Warburg Bank of Hamburg
- Lehman Brothers of New York
- Kuhn Loeb Bank of New York
- Goldman, Sachs of New York
- Chase Manhattan Bank of New York
All-in-all there is about 300 VERY POWERFUL foreign individuals that own the FED through ownership of the listed banks and investment houses.
Theoretically the FED is required to give back most of its PROFITS to the Treasury Dept., but there is NO ORGANIZATION that has the power to AUDIT the FED (not even the Congress or the IRS). Therefore there is a huge opportunity for "creative accounting" to hide and deny the profit that the U.S. Tax Payers are entitled to, which amounts to Hundreds of Billions of Dollars annually.
A few Republicans congressmen annually introduce legislation to AUDIT the FED, and every year, the legislation is defeated. The owners of the FED are an extremely powerful, invisible lobbying power.
Of course it helps the FED owners that they exert major control of media outlets so that the public is kept uninformed about the FED owners' shenanigans. The owners of the FED own the controlling interests in ALL major media in the United States; Rockefeller, through Chase Manhattan bank, controls CBS and ABC and 28 other broadcasting firms. Each of the other owners of the FED also has controlling interest in the US media. This explains why the media have been silent about the FED scam. The FED fraud is the biggest and longest cover-up in United States history.
As pointed out in Part One, According to Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution, the US Congress has the power to print money (The Congress shall have the power...to coin money, regulate the value thereof, and of foreign coin, ..). According to the Supreme Court, the Congress cannot transfer its power to other organizations like the FED, but they have done it anyway.
Here is how the owners of the FED profit at the expense of the American people.
The US Government runs deficits annually in the billions of dollars, and lately in the trillions of dollars. Congress covers this by issuing government bonds which are bought by the FED. Since the FED has the power to print money, it can buy any amount of the US. Government bonds at almost NO COST, except for the small fee paid to the Treasury to print money (about 3 cents/$100).
This amounts to a profit to the FED owners of about $99.97 for every 3c they invested to print the money. Basically, they exchange something that costs almost nothing to them for the US Government Bonds.
Since the FED can NOT be AUDITED by the IRS (or even by Congress), most of this profit can go anywhere the FED owners want it to go; and it is tax free.
After buying the bonds, the owner of the FED can either keep the bonds, and collect the interest the US Government now owes them, or sell the bonds to the U.S. Taxpayers or foreigners. In either case, the FED owners have received $99.97 profit for every 3 cents it invested to print the money. Since the FED is a privately owned corporation, the profit of the FED goes to the FED owners.
The U.S. Government now owes the FED owners the interest on those bonds. Remember the FED owners do not earn the bonds, they simply arrange for printing the money to buy the bonds. In other words, they created money out of thin air, and exchange it for the interest bearing bonds.
In order to pay for the bonds' interest, the U.S. Government taxes the US population.
When a U.S. citizen holding U.S. Government bonds receives his/her return of investment on the bonds, essentially the money he/she receives is the tax money he/she is paying to the Government.
When the OWNERS of the FED receive the interest on the BONDS they're holding, they are receiving that money essentially for free and without the need to pay taxes on the profit.
In reality every year the FED profits by hundreds of billions of dollars by buying US Government Bonds. Yet it only returns about $20 billion to the US Treasury. The rest of the profit has been spent as "Operational Expenses". The FED expects us to believe that the FED operational expenses are hundreds of billions of dollars annually.
In actuality those profits are given as "DIVIDENDS TO SHAREHOLDERS."
Is there any doubt this scam will eventually increase the national debt and lead to bankrupt the government?
THE FED SHOULD BE ABOLISHED
The U.S. Congress has the option to buy back the FED at $450 million (per Congressional Records). If the Congress does this, it will own back the billions of U.S. Government Bonds held by the FED. The U.S. Government will actually profit by buying back the FED; and the U.S. government would no longer have to pay interests to the FED owners on those bonds.
This will give the owners of the FED what they deserve after all the years of milking the public. Through their ownerships in the FED, powerful foreign and domestic banks have raked in trillions of dollars in tax free dividends; isn't it about time we do something about it?
Let's remember what Henry Ford once said "It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning."
P.S. Instead of Pork, they've ordered themselves Caviar Ala Spread em wider !
darrell,
You said, "Too much is just handouts for low income earners/dem voters." I have no idea where you are getting the idea that the poor are all Democrats. Actually I believe it is the other way around. Take a look at the incomes by State and notice which ones are red States and which are blue States.
Like I said before I am not a Democrat or Republican I am an Independent that votes for who I see as the best for our Country. Being a former Marine I only see people to be judged by their character.
For some strange reason some of you are saying that the only people wanting pork for their area are Democrats. That is so very wrong my friend. Look at Palins road to no where that was built to connect to the bridge to no where. Look at Trent Lotts contract to build C130 aircraft in his home area in the last 8 years that have been outdated for about 30 years, etc. Both parties are very guilty of pork.
I would be classified a little right of center on the Political scale but I agree with Obama that something has to be done and putting it on the Internet for the public to see.
Are you people ready to vote your Congress person out if they are the pork king or queen regardless of their party? I am, and more and more of us everyday are getting fed up with both parties. Look at Shelby from Alabama that did not want to bail out the Auto makers because his State has 3 or 4 Foreign car factories. Who was he concerned with, the Country or Alabama?
We better drop the Democrat or Republican stupidity and look at our Country as a whole. I hope there are good Politicians but I will guarantee you there are corrupt, me first, in both parties.
Details of the plan, which has yet to be drafted as a bill, will be available online, Obama said, "so the American people will know where their precious tax dollars are going and whether we are hitting our marks."
precious tax dollars? Sounds a tad bit sarcastic to me....not saying that they aint precious..but geesshhh........
With two kids in College my taxes are getting precious lol
Putting the package on the Internet so that everyone knows who got what is a page right out of McCain's play book. Remember when he said "You will know their names" in reference to pork barrell spending. In my opinion, giving a tax credit to people who pay no income taxes is a HUGE earmark. It really amounts to paying for their votes.
Rush Limbaugh needs to go away. Too many people are saying the same things, so it has to come from him. When his words were being used on the campaign trail, that is when he needed to be stopped. He is an insult to any person with brains.
It's hilarious that people think Obama's tax cuts are a handout for welfare recipients. First of all, if you think $500 for an individual is a handout, you apparently don't know how much things cost these days. Secondly, people must pay taxes to get a tax cut. So don't worry your petty (yes, petty) little heads.
In addition to needing to understand that the "free market" is a theory that has just been proved false, you conservatives need to understand that the chances YOU will become the top 1% or even top 5% of wealth is very unlikely, thus why it is only 1% of the population. So stop supporting tax cuts for these people, or greedy corporations that could care less about you.
Instead, unite against politicians beholding to special interests. Obama is the first politician who has the least obligation, and therefore the most hopeful Reformer. Those of either Party who insist on old Washington ways will give pause to public access to information. (Ha! about McCain naming names, like he suspended his election to save the economy, and his name wouldn't be on the list).
As for Social Security, it's a dang good thing Bush didn't privatize it. After all that has been lost on Wall Street, you'd have nothing now suckers. And the way most Americans are saving, or struggling to own their homes, they're going to need Soc Sec to keep them in cat food and hopefully heat in the winter too.
Medicare, now that's another matter. It is ripped off by the medical community, and anyone with a disability can collect regardless of age. Medicare is what is bleeding tax payers dry. This is where Health Care Reform becomes so important. The elderly and disabled should be covered by health care insurance, not tax dollars. If insurance companies, doctors, pharmacy companies, etc. are regulated, this problem will be addressed in the correct way.
So you Republicans out there -- how about you become part of the solution instead of being an uninformed, negative obsticale to the system. Gees, you just might become popular again. But at the minimum, you could help make a better world for yourself and your children.
Saying your going to put the information on the Internet is a fine idea, if that is, you can trust what THEY put there. No matter how you look at it, the only information we receive, is what THEY spoon feed us. We can't be sure what they are telling us is true. Look at the bail out of Fanny Mae, and that other Corporation. Does anyone really know where ALL that money went? They say they can't tell us, why is that?, they certainly know how much their borrowers spend, or borrow, or owe, to the penny. We hear of reports where the money is being used in incentive packages, is this factual?
No matter what happens in our Government, we can't be sure what is truth, and what isn't.
President Elect Obama says he is gonna fix the problem by putting more money in the crack of the economic dike. It all sounds good, but how are we (WE) Americans to really know the truth. Our Government has gotten so good at double talk, and hidden agendas, there is NO possible way anything they do can be trusted. The shame is, by the time we see the repercussions of their actions it is to late. As in the Fanny Mae bail out package. How much of that money actually went where it was supposed to go, and now they want to do the same thing else where. If our country is so broke, where is the money coming from. And WHY do these Government official get paid so well for doing nothing but raping America for THEIR own benefit?
On another note, anyone notice the gas prices increasing again?
The notion that earmarks and all bills will be on the interent is a good thing. But I am pretty sure if you see something you dont like.......what are you gonna do about it? Our Senators and congress folks are oblivious to the Ameriican people. It will pass no matter how opposed you and the people may be
I write constantly to local politicians and NEVER get a response or even a kiss my Arse.
This is Washington state and thats how politicians treat all of us here.
pedro-391074 1.13,
No, perdo, the current mess is not "largely the result of the free market", but largely due to the subversion of the free market.
Please remember that you posited your affirmative first. Ergo, I'm formally asking you to make your case. Don't ask me to make my case until you make yours.
TruePatriot-445959 1.33,
In addition to needing to understand that the "free market" is a theory that has just been proved false...
This one partial sentence alone outs you as being clueless about even basic economics.
So you Republicans out there -- how about you become part of the solution instead of being an uninformed, negative obsticale to the system.
We Republicans understand economics, but Obama doesn't. We know how to solve this mess, but Obama doesn't. We will never become part of Obama's 'solutions' because policies which are fraternal twins to his 'solutions' caused this economic crises in the first place.
No, we Republicans will sit on the sidelines until Obama crashes and burns. Then, when the country rediscovers the virtues of the free market and understands that excessive public-sector intervention in the private sector can only lead to catastrophe, then and only then will we become part of the solution.
In the meantime, we'll much enjoy Obama's feckless and febrile flailing.
FDR's job creation programs did not keep us in the depression longer.... Most of his programs were tossed out as "unconstitutional" by the Republican Supreme CCourt. When most of your new deal programs are tossed, it is kind of hard to actually affect anything.
This must be some new mem by Conservatives. Some moron said it and thus it gets repeated. FDR's policies did not extend the depression. The lack of acting for 4 years by Hoover is what extended the depression. If you don't have demand, you don't have an economy... that is what FDR's policies were doing... increasing demand by giving jobs to people who were out of work.
If that's the case, I want to see him, requiring it be televised, how and what he vetoes on pork spending. All politicians have said the same thing and its flat out a lie. Money, Money Money, can't be turned down by congress. Its a useful tool to help get them elected to say they got their state tax payer money that does nothing to energise us who work hard and get no Stimulus Package..
The whole bailout debacle is pork . If all of our money they have wasted so far was given back to the citizens (legal ones) we could have paid off our mortgages and bought a new car and stimulated the economy and saved our jobs all at the same time. Do the math.
Transparency and accountability! We can only hope he succeeds.
If he can make the congress accountable for their usual misconduct, good for him. We need to watch congress closely, he better be careful he could be making powerful enemies from both party's.
What worries me is this: What is being "reported" as accountable? Will we get half truths and veiled information? I think its a marvelous idea, but how much actual accountability will be revealed, reported and tracked after all that has been done to the American people in this stage of the "game"? Are the American people ready to ask honest, gut wretching, brutal questions when needed? Or will we continue to shake our fists and then shake in our boots when confronted?
Hear, Hear, Lets do this right for a change!
A parent can scold and yell and threaten, but if there is NO follow-through the behavior can't be corrected. That's exactly what is happening and has happened in our government. There are no teeth to the laws of our country. The fraud, deceit, theft, and manipulation will continue no matter who is guiding the ship.
I wish Mr. Obama all the best, but also need him to know that all the words thrown at him don't mean a thing. Don't just talk - ACT!
Accountibility to whom! You and I will have no say so on how the pork is sprnt!
You're right, Spud, the info to be given on the internet is just that: information. Congress will actually vote on the result, not us. While this setup will give no more power to influence this issue than usual, it does give us a chance to see who does what and take note when re-election time comes around. Hopefully enough voters will accept the responsibility to keep track of their elected representatives' actions and not be swayed by BS ads in the next campaign season.
How are we going to know what they post on the Internet is the truth? Trust them that it is?
Looks like his appointees are having a hard time in the accountability arena. Not to mention Barney and friends of course.
If he can pull it off it would be great. Another thing he might want to try is to come to grips with is the unpatriotic lack of accountability in "defense" spending where every dollar not used wisely undermines our nations ability to wage the "War on Terror" effectively.
Right on just jerry...
Why don't "you people" give him a chance. He did not create this mess...it was the President that YOU elected. Not only once but twice...
He has the support of our nation and I am sure he will do his best to try and bring some relief for this nation.
I want this war to end...it is a useless endeavor which is costing American lives!
Thank God for Obama!
You must be talking about Clinton??
When you say Obama didn't create this mess. What you meant he was going to fix what Reid, Shumar, Dodd, Pelois and Frank did. Right?
If you think it's all Bush, you have your head in the sand. The Democrats have been in charge for the last two years and are a part of this problem. Know add it to the next 4 years, our deficit will be like a big balloon ready to burst. Why is it know that you are in charge, no one is talking about running the deficit into outer space. Makes you wonder.
PET1, who are you kidding? Bush walked into office 8 years ago with a budget surplus under his belt. Now we're a half trillion in the hole. Do you think the $10 billion per month in Iraq has anything to do with that? Dems have led the Hill for just under 2 years. These problems were festering long before that.
Â
What you need to do is take off your Republican hat and put on the one that say's "Hey, what we did for the last 8 years didn't work. Let's try something new". Even John McCain came around to that way of thinking...
Â
Our country is in some deep poop right now, and I think we need to support the efforst of our government. If they fail, I'm first in line to call foul...
Would you please stop blaming a Democratic Congress for the problems we have now. 2 years of continuing Republican pressure and intimidation along with a Puppet President who vetoed everything sent to him that made sense and was intelligent, can't be dumped on the Democrats. Do you really believe all this crap about the Republican great design? Look where we are. Isn't Bush and his buddies (government and private) ALL Republicans?
#3.5 - Need to do your homework on vetoes.
1st column: Total vetoes; second column vetoes overridden by Congress
Bill Clinton: 37 2
George W. Bush: 12 4
Are any of you, Pet and Dave in particular going to make Bush accountable for anything??? We are in a war (two actually), I am sure the people of New Orleans love him, No Child Left Behind...a huge success, and now this mess. Dems have had the vote only two...count them two of the eight Bush has been in office. The Buck stops with him...not Clinton, Dave. He's old news. Get over it, Bush and his self serving staff have done us in at the expense of the American people. My friend's son back from Iraq says the soldiers call the people working for Haliburton, Halleeeberton for all the great Humvees, kevlar vests and the fab salaries they get paid. The soldiers go without. Yeah, Bush/Cheney have done a great job.

And people will keep making the same insult you attempted to debunk, caring about the actual facts has gone out the window in exchange for playing on stereotypes as if they're accurate.
Mr. Obama's policies do not have the support of the nation. I say he has about 53% support.
"My friend's son back from Iraq says the soldiers call the people working for Haliburton, Halleeeberton for all the great Humvees, kevlar vests and the fab salaries they get paid."
Oh no, a company taking care of its employees, how dare they! What you've said is the reason that Halliburton is named one of the top companies in the world to work for, if you seriously want to call protecting their employees a negative then you've got some serious problems. Oh, and the soldiers not having proper protective vests was a problem with the Clinton administration in Iraq, when Bush declared war the title provided the additional funding which more than doubled the level of protective equipment provided, which is one of the main reasons war is declared now in the first place, as the troops are generally already there fighting long before the title is provided (I served in the Clinton administration when our pay and benefits were cut by 30%, tens of thousands of us entirely without body armor of any kind, losing three friends in Iraq during that time). For the record, the comments towards the companies working out there while we were serving in the military was mostly made out of jealousy and/or respect for the level that they were taking care of their people. Properly maintained humvees, proper levels of protection, above average salaries...in the real world we call all of those strong positives. We wanted the same treatment, it's the treatment that was deserved, which is why many of us when our duty ended went off to work for those companies.
"Mr. Obama's policies do not have the support of the nation. I say he has about 53% support."
Not any more, he won the presidency with a bit over 52% of the vote but has since seen support, as the long term inclinations of his policies are finally being thought over as well as his choices in post fillings, dwindle to below the majority. It's been a really bad start for him, once the time of promises ended his policies are being picked apart for the mass problems they contain.
So far, Beckwolf, there hasn't been a start of any type, good or bad. He's not in office. Is that so challenging a thought? And all I'm seeing, personally,is a lot of crystal ball gazing and generalizing by people like people like yourself who seemingly would rather Obama fail than the US pull itself out of this mess. And for those of you who haven't figured this out yet it is crucial that Obama's policys succeed. Our future as a country absolutely depends on it.For better or worse he is ALL we have.
53% of the vote is better than Bush got in the 2 elections he fear-mongered his way into.
We had to support Bush all these years, it is time to start supporting our guy.
Guess what has been found in the stimulus package, earmarks. One of the states getting a pet project, Nevada, home of Harry Reid. The same Harry Reid who said there are no earmarks in the package. What is his project? Is it road construction? No. Is it a new bridge, or dam? No. It's a museum about the mob in Los Vegas. Just what we need to get the economy going. Lying bastards.
http://www.lasvegasmikey.com/mob.htm
scroll down to the fourth item about museum
or the full article below. please read and then SFU!! (to quote you, Kathy)
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2009/jan/06/mob-museum-exhibit-gop-leader/
Pretty typical Reid, he is as bad as Hillary and Pelousy.
now you see...this is what is wrong with the right - they never actually research the nonsense rush and his cronies tell them to repeat - This is what you should do when you hear things like this - research it! the mob museum will not be in the stimulus package. - do you really think Mitch McConnell will allow it even if it was brought up???? Seriously - think people, please use the gray matter between your ears!
here you go Gary - here is what the article on the mob museum says:
“We would like, on the spending side, obviously, to avoid funding things like a mob museums or water slides,” McConnell reiterated during a news conference on Monday.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, in his own appearance Sunday on “Meet the Press,” insisted there will be no earmarks in the stimulus package.
Reid’s spokesman repeated the refrain on Monday when asked whether the mob museum should get stimulus money. “There will be no earmarks in the stimulus. Nada. Zero. Zilch,” spokesman Jon Summers said.
Las’ effort to secure federal money to help turn a historic post office into a museum about its storied criminal past is something watchdogs of excess spending love to hate. Vegas
The museum rose to prominence last month after Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman was quoted telling the Review-Journal he would seek funding for the project in the stimulus package.
In fact, he said, he was hoping to suggest as much in an upcoming talk with Reid.
“If we could get some help along those lines, that would be what the stimulus bill was really talking about,” Goodman said at the time.
What happened next is a product of the 24/7 nexus of media and politics.
The story went out the way stories do — on a local radio station and blogs, including the Drudge Report, the conservative must-read site.
Republicans in Washington heard about it and, presto, a poster child was born.
Democratic Rep. Shelley Berkley declined to dip into the fray Monday with a response.
Rep.-elect Dina Titus, a Democrat, chuckled when asked whether the museum should get stimulus money.
“That wouldn’t be at the top of my list for infrastructure,” Titus said. “I’m thinking more of highway construction is what we need in Nevada — transportation infrastructure. You’ve got to be careful. The public’s not going to put up with things.”
So you're saying it's good some of the Republicans pointed this out otherwise it may have indeed been in the package. I'm glad there are still a few good investigative reporters around.
Gary - You sound like a Republican running his mouth on the Senate floor saying all kinds of nothing and inventing 'things' to incite those who might even believe you, and side with the great, mindless neo-cons.
Take your blinders off, dude. You can't pick and choose which words you want to embellish your story with and then try to pass it off as facts. That's what's affectionately known as a "spin" Enough to make your head hurt.
i would think the mob could pay for their own museum... or take over someone elses.
Back up your accusation you A**, or just SFU!!!!!
Sell Fried Underthings?
Kathy-512414, don't do this again - you're suspended for a day for violating #1 of the CoH. Don't attack other users.
Like the Brooklyn bridge in New York city is for sell real cheap.
I hope the media will look over the stimulus package and report the pork they find, instead of giving Obama a pass on it.
The media loves this guy. They will give him the usual pass.
hasn't been passed yet - so what's your gripe gary - seems to me lilke the man is trying but you still criticize.
MEL F....I think the point is to have transparency and shows accountability BEFORE, any bill is past. After the fact does no good. Like seeing there is money allocated for a mob museum. Find it and eliminate it before the funds are allocated.
Gary302710.... where did you see the stimulus package details?? You must have some pretty impressive connections, seeing how it's not even finished yet.
Can't believe no one is even giving this guy a chance. JC, we've had 8 years of being screwed and lied to, personally, I'm going to give our new PE and the Congress a chance before I start putting the screws to them.
Stella. -
LOL.......... all of these Obama haters get their RNC emails and Rush Limbaugh crap every day and can not wait to spread it like wildfire.
But if as and when a package is announced every line of it should be scrutinized and ANY pork exposed and removed and the sponsoring congressman should be flooded with calls, emails and regular mail so they get the point.
But one problem is always going to be that one persons pork is anothers necessity. Sure, a museum or telescope are easy targets to identify. But, new roads, schools, military bases, fishery funds etc in any one state can be "pork" to someone who does not live there.
Those will never go away.
"But if as and when a package is announced every line of it should be scrutinized and ANY pork exposed and removed and the sponsoring congressman should be flooded with calls, emails and regular mail so they get the point."
Good in theory (I have my congressmen on speed dial!) but the problem is people are too lazy to do that. They'd rather sit on their computer and spout off nonsense about how they are right and everyone who thinks differently is wrong. Republicans especially - the thought of them actually participating in our democracy is laughable. They just get their talking points and endlessly repeat them, while Democrats, well they're just a joke - the stage is set and the country is trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and what do we get in return? This Blago debacle!
Seriously people - when will you wake up to the fact there is no difference between Repubs and Dems - non of them actually care about you, me, or ANY of us - they care about themselves, getting re-elected, and holding onto/gaining more and more power!
We need to do away with this broken system - we gave it a try but it doesn't work. Our founding fathers did not hold loyal to any political parties when drafting the constitution so why do we stand by them and continue to allow them to hold our democracy hostage????
The answer....Ignorance and pure laziness!
They can't give him a chance because there still mad Mcsame and is poddle lost
Kelly, Good one.. thanks for the laugh.. Stella.. we have been lied to and screwed for a life time but I agree the last 8 years have been brutal.
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2009/jan/06/mob-museum-exhibit-gop-leader/
Haven't seen the entire stimulus package, but the museum is discussed above, and REid was planning to get Fed funds to help build. We'll see how it works out.
"They can't give him a chance because there still mad Mcsame and is poddle lost"
Actually, we can't give him a chance because he hasn't provided a single policy that should be given a chance. Why give a chance to something that even common sense tells you will only hurt us in the long run? Your insult is already a very tired one that doesn't fit in reality. If Obama's policies actually made sense (versus claiming that taking from the job creators will magically create jobs instead of end them), then he would be supported by more people instead of his approval rating already dropping significantly even before taking office. You don't sit there while someone walks into your home to rob you, giving him a chance that he may change his mind. No, you try and stop him BEFORE running off with your belongings. McCain has nothing to do with the reasons to hate Obama, anyone who claims differently is simply looking for an excuse to explain why people feel differently. Almost half the country didn't support Obama's ideas BEFORE McCain lost the run for office, so your comment is easily discredited. We can't give him a chance because his policies need to be stopped BEFORE hurting all of us of every financial class, not because of someone completely unrelated who no longer has anything to do with this incoming presidency. Grudges have nothing to do with it, his policies are stated and they are extremely harmful, period.
Must be nice to be a prophet. Many's the time I've wished I could foretell the future...
This is still the Honeymoon. It is kiss and tell time. We will soon find out, whom the cross dress folk's are. Surely, if we were a fly, in the bathroom wall, we could find, at least a couple of 'home skillet's', on the can, trying to see if they can make contact, on the other-side of the partition, with their foot.
Let us be clear. We will soon find out more, than we have heard, or seen before. Ponder this, "Life is what Happens to you, while you are making other Plan's.........no way right?
Let us imagine, a black man that makes you free from slavery.........no way right?..........
I had hard time following your post, twocspirt2. First I thought you were talking about Bonnie fwank with the kiss and tell and the cross dressing, then with the home skillets, I thought it must be that Katie's Diner in Wilmington where Biden says he always eats. You know the one that's been closed for over twenty years.
Then finding out more than we have ever heard, I'm assuming Blago's going to spill his guts shortly.
But black man free us from slavery? Hmmm? Does that mean we will no longer be a slave to our debts and Obama will pay everything off for us? Yeah, that must be it.
What ??
darrell..I think Blago maybe wont spill his guts..or at least let anyone know he is going to because he dont wanna end up like Vince Foster ,DEAD in some park, considering this is really looking more like a Clinton White House instead of an Obama White House..and then again...since Blago, after all, is a Demwit, this may not even come to his mind...........lest we forget dude! LOL!
This is going to be a tough battle for Obama. Congress passing stimulus with no pork? Will be one hell of an accomplishment if he can make it. Either way, I'm supporting Obama 200%. So far he has shown a true leadership in really trying to save this country from oblivion before he is even sworn in as a president. What the hell is the current president doing? Why in the hell I got the feeling that Obama is doing a Bush's job while Bush is nowhere to be found? Why are we paying him for then? Hmmm. Talk about Golden Parachute.
we were paying obama's senate salary for two years while he did nothing but campaign
I am betting a lot of pork will be portrayed as necessary for the recovery. One politicians pork is another politicians lively hood. I am for calling them out but many have tried to reform congress with no success. The key will be are the partisan backers of the party's going to turn a blind eye to their party's misdeeds? Since I think they both suck I don't have high hopes for the conduct of the elected scoundrels, unfortunately Ihave almost the same lack of confidence in the blind herd. If the President wantsto truly reform and eliminate earmarks the people need to take off their partisan glasses and back him up, because i think we are going to see a lot of howling politicians and they will turn on anyone who rocks the boat.
Wake up West Dude. The congress is the same today as it was in December. Do you think Bush had a chance in **** of getting anything done?? That congress has not let him do anything for 2 years.
McCain got paid... as did Palin, Cinton, and any other number of elected officials running for higher office. You're just bitter as can be. I hope you don't get left behind while the country moves forward.
T...so you say Bush was not allowed to get anything done for the last two years, the other six don't count. That's where most of the damage was done.
Sorry, but this country is NOT moving forward
"we were paying obama's senate salary for two years while he did nothing but campaign"
Compared to before, when we were paying his Senate salary while he did, ummm, nothing. All candidates are paid while they campaign, that's the way it goes. To use that as an insult would be insulting McCain, Palin, Clinton, and every other politician that was running, along with insulting everyone of all past elections. The insult that makes sense is talking about paying him for his work before campaigning (as short as that time was), and paying him for the harmful policies he's attempting to screw us over with now.
BAN EARMARKS !! Must be a pipe dream.
There is no legislation passed that does not include earmarks (I call it PORK). If this can be accomplished by the new administration, then I have to give them a positive rating. But I don't think this can be accomplished since many of our Congressional members will not vote on any bill until they do their political posturing thing and include their pork.
While the PE is at it, then draft legislation to include term limits and verbage to exclude special interest groups from the beltway.
It may be a dream but it's a good one. How about we show our support for this type of action, instead of dismissing it outright.
txmom32
i think he has to begin his job as president BEFORE he can do anything. my point is stop @!$%#ing until he doesn't do what he said
MEL F...the cool thing about our political system is that I can "!%$ch if I think it is warranted we are in America not the ME or Venezuela. I think the information being leaked from his "no sources named staff" is propaganda and contrived so most worthy of the complaints. I see no change what so ever, from the massive amounts of information being leaked, and my expectations started out fairly low. His nomination for high profile posts are weak at best when he needs to be prepared to step into the stadium with and A game with other World Leaders. His stance that there are some "folks" could be good could be bad in Gitmo is laughable. The only transparent view we have is his Admin going in and by the way they really are not HIS Admin. it is Clinton all over. Makes one suspect that the election was decided by a coin toss via back room deal between our current President Elect and Billary. Note it would not do for the Clinton's to have Richardson receive a post after his betrayal, big surprise his name is off the list, not. So I will lower my expectations again because I see no change on the horizon. Smoke and mirrors.
No wonder we are in the mess we are in. The hate that is written here is unreal. Give President Obama a chance and gee I don't know how about helping your neighbor or a local business, buy something made in America, mentor a kid, help out at a hospital. If you know someone who is having a hard time, buy them a damm bag of grocerys or a tank of gas. Quit being so cynical.
well said naggy!
but helping our fellow citizens and neighbors???? now you're talking crazy!!! why would anyone in this country help out anyone in need - that's crazy liberal tree-hugging welfare talk - best just tell your neighbor who lost his job and can't put food on the table to quit whining. it's his fault he lost his job - he should have been smarter than he was and should have forseen the economic collpase and prepared! hahahaha (p.s. for those who can't understand sarcasm, this was my attempt at being a right-wing whack job who thinks everything in the world is the fault of the liberals and eveyrone who is not them is, of course, a liberal)
That part about buying American products - that does have it's fault since I'm not sure if anything is made in America anymore!!! unbelievable!
"The hate that is written here is unreal. Give President Obama a chance"
Why would you just "give a chance" to something that is obviously going to hurt you? Makes no sense. The hate that is here is very real, when you propose to take even MORE from the job creators to pay the rest, the rest gets nothing more than a bit of cash in exchange for their jobs and livelihoods. Here's a thousand bucks, oh, but we're taking your job in exchange. That grand will run out quickly, and then you're left with nothing. There's nothing there to NOT hate. Not only is the hate very real, more needs to be done against this man who, while not even the President yet, has already proven himself to be a gross incompetent with his proposal ideas and unbelievable promises. Create millions of jobs by taking the money from the job creators...what? Maybe he'd be less hated if he threw out a single idea that displayed even a marginal level of common sense. No, you don't give a chance to something that common sense should tell everyone will hurt all of us. You do your best to stomp it into the ground, protecting yourself and everyone around you, you defend the right choices and shout your loudest at what will damage us all in the long run. Since Obama's ideas are all falling into the latter, people should, and will, continue to shout loudly against him. There's no reason to give a chance here, stop it before it bites you.
I have said it before and I will say it again this is following the same path that we took in the 20's and 30's that caused the great depression. After the stock market crash unemployment went up to the 5-7% range. People started calling for the government to do something so the President (Cleveland?) introduced a "stimulus package" then FDR was elected and got a huge stimulus package passed (relatively speaking) and unemployment jumped to 30+% and stayed there untill we entered WWII. That is why I am opposed to these handouts to companies. And don't call them loans the companiew and the feds overseeing things(ha) will find a way to avoid them being paid back. The only stimulus that makes sense is to reduce taxes on the working people who are actually paying taxes. That will put more money in circulation which will generate more business which will result in more taxes being paid on all levels.
Beckwolf, why weren't your spidey senses working in the build-up to Iraq? You had a good chance of being right then.
I certainly hope Obama can do all he says he's going to do. One thing we need to remember, Bush is not the only person at fault for the mess. Congress has been controlled by the dems for several years. Not only that, but one man only has so much power. We need to look to the greediness that was being rewarded by big companies. Really, how many millions does one person need to make each year? I have no problem paying taxes, if they are being used wisely! Bailouts just mean more money coming out of my pocket! I'd rather give my tax money to a charity than see it used for something that doesn't even have oversight.
congress has only been in the slight majority of the dems for TWO YEARS - not several, and it was far from control, it was just a statistical majority - not a veto or filibuster proof majority. so let's not forget the republican led congress of the 6 previous yrs - it's all who were in washington for the last 8 yrs who are to blame and then it's all our faults for electing, re-electing and then not paying attention to these crooks!
actually to be statiscally accurate, Anthony, the Dems still controlled senate until 2002 election. So they actually had control of the senate for 4 out of Bush's 8 years and the house 2 of his 8 years.
But your thought is correct if you take it even further back than 8 years. World and US didn't start in 2001 when Bush took office.
Just like the good guy doesn't wear a white hat, the good politician doesn't belong to one party or the other. It's no longer a question on being able to find a politician that isn't guilty it's a question of who is the least guilty. We keep running and electing the same people who continue to rip us off. I have a hard time believing that with all the people we have in this country that we can't elect new people to run for these positions. Make it a law they must use public funding that way everyone has a equal opportunity. It's so expensive to run that most people couldn't afford to run. Its the average person we need to better represent the needs of the people. While we are at it, we need limit their terms (no more than 2). Congresspersons, senators, and the president should be sentenced for taking any gifts or funds from lobbyist. As well as sentence the lobbyist and place sanctions against the interest they represent. These people aren't there to become rich, they are there to represent the people. We can't just allow these folks to simply resign from their position when they are found to have committed a crime, they need to go to jail just as any other person would have to. These folks need to learn they are not above the law. and they are certainly not above the American people.
As if we $775 Billion wasnt a god-awful amount? What will Obama do veto the bill if pork is attached? Fat chance. He wants to look like he is getting the job done and will pass that bill no matter what is attached. I guarentee you.
Does it matter that the goverment is broke and is running up huge deficits? Naw just spend more that will get us out of htis mess.
Besides all that, the earmark system is awful system but given that so much state/county money is taxed by the federal government is that bad that congressmen try to get some back for projects in their district?
Besides all that, the earmark system is awful system but given that so much state/county money is taxed by the federal government is that bad that congressmen try to get some back for projects in their district?
Some of the earmarks are spent on good things, but it seems that a majority of the money is spent on things that do not contribute to the communities as a whole. Such as, $110 million for 34 projects related to renovations of golf courses, $10 million for seaside lagoon rehabilitation, $6 million to heat a swimming pool, or $621 million for a 580,000 square foot Capitol Visitor Center. I know that people get employed to do what is needed for renovations and building, but how much money actually goes into the pockets of employees and how much goes into the pockets of the "big wigs?"
Doesnt matter to me who gets what. It up to the voters in those districts to decide if the money requested by their congressman through earmarks was for something good or a waste of money, and if it was a waste vote him or her out.
It wont work. It isnt logical. Its like taking money out of your left pocket and putting in your right pocket and then saying you have fixed your money problems. Its not going to fix things and it will make more problems later. There is no easy way out of this recession. It will take time for the economy to adjust itself.
Dear Mr. Obama, no pork? There is no nothing in this plan. Don't waste any more of your time or money on it. $20 per paycheck is not going to help me or anyone I know one bit. Please re-focus your efforts on the root of our economic problems - the mortgage mess.
I agree with you "I Don't Know Who To Vote For".
$1,000 / $500. is a nice gift, but personally, I can't spend it - I have a mortgage I can hardly afford now that my husband has been laid off, so it's really just another week of security for my home. The only purchases I make now are only absolute necessities - fuel and food.
Unless mortgage lenders are willing to extend a bit more, the economy is not going to recover in my opinion. My lender won't do anything for me because I haven't defaulted....yet.
Government doesn't "get it". Ask the middle class - how many people are in the same boat? We want to save our homes.
If it's constructed like the bank bailout, the whole thing will be pork......won't be any need for earmarks.
Mess? Pork barrels? Democrat? Republican? Last 6 years? Last 8 years? Getting screwed only during those years?
Its been happening for decades and will continue for decades more. The machine will not let one man , no matter how well meaning or insightful change anything if it removes the golden tit from their mouths. The public is not Obamas worry, but Washington itself, which is comprised of Democrats and Republicans that have gotten use to the nipple of money.
I use the referrence that I did because of the b**bs in D.C. .
LOL!!! You said B**bs!
Pork in a Democratic stimulus bill? Perish the thought!
So Obama is planning to cut taxes and increase spending....didnt we just have a campaign were dems spent 2 years attacking GW for.....cutting taxes and increasing spending..
CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN!....hahahaha what a joke this man is already..
Promise change
Change the promise
The democrat way to get elected.
yes we did and that same president lef tus in such a clusterf*$k that, as Obama has said, we'll have to worry about the deficit later. But, unlike W, Obama has a plan. He's not just going to blow the money on brand new toys for the military (when their old ones worked perfectly fine) and he won't be blowing $10billion a month in Iraq. He will be implementing an infrastructure rebuilding movement so that this money is actually being used as an investment in our own future - imagine that. spending tax money on infrasturcture and putting it back into our economy - kind of how it's SUPPOSED to be used! What a novel idea - invest in America and our roads, bridges, schools, and struggling taxpayers - truly he must be a crazy liberal, socialistic fascist, dictator, evil satan worshiping lunatic to come up with such an idea!
Seriosuly...for those who just have to criticize instead of saying, hey, maybe we'll give him a shot at succeeding, I ask you this - how would YOU, as President, get our country out of this mess????? and if you have a plan, who have you told? Have you called your congressmen/women or tried running for office yourself or have you done anything to help your country recover, since you have all the answers????
Just in case you don't realize it, I want to be the first to tell you that you are so so blinded by political party that you are actually stupid.
Who is blinded?
Anthony GW increased spending on schools by billions of dollars......
ALso..govt gets billions in money to spend on roads and bridges and spends the money on other things..
I dont see OBAMA proposing any withdraw from IRAQ thats isnt already in the PLANS by GW...
Sorry but the Celebrity in chief is doing exactly what he attacked GW for doing....all I am doing it pointing out the fact..
and your reaction....says it all...
Anthony stop drinking the kool aid...
"I dont see OBAMA proposing any withdraw from IRAQ thats isnt already in the PLANS by GW..."
hahahahahahaha please stop - it hurts too much - no please stop you're killing me! hahahahaha WOW - talk about kool-aid...yeah - bush has anything to do with the current withdraw set up in Iraq! hahahaha he agreed while kicking and screaming (and ducking) on his way out the door. The iraq people finally said enough is enough. but please continue with the stand up comedy!
Sorry man, but i'm not much for kool-aid. I don't support political parties - certain people within different parties, yes, but defend until the end a poltical party - not this guy.
but this is great comic genious at work - someone defending george w bush telling me to stop drinking the kool-aid! hahaha priceless! I'm going to frame that one.
AnthonyV--THANK YOU for challenging the nay-Sayers!!
Is it important to lay blame on a particular individual or party, or can we just accept that the mess is OURS to deal with? I am thrilled about the information being available to everyone so that we have some accountability from our government as well as from its citizens. How about we all become part of the SOLUTION?
the koolaid line is getting pretty lame. That is what you resort to when your arguments don't hold water.
Trm: don't forget Nazis, Hitler, Communist, Marxist, and Socialist. Oh, and the Clintons as the root of all evil. LOL.
GW cut taxes for who ??
Everybody knows that no matter what PE Obama's plans were you will have people saying how it's not going to help. You have one person talking about a world war to fix this mess way i see it is a war is part of the reason we are in this mess how is getting into another going to help? Other than kill more of troops.
If Obama didn't have a plan to hit the ground running when he gets in office people would be upset too. This man isn't in office and some are saying he is ruining the country. And that he is the wrost thing for it. But yet he hasn't had a chance to prove them wrong or other right.
Fact is he is our next president as a nation suffering we NEED to support him so that we can fix this mess we are in. If we keep fighting among ourselves we will never fix this mess we are in. Does this mean we follow blindy those in off. NO. But we can't knock them done at every thing they do but we must also make our voices heard. And not on a blog were we say they suck. But do our part to help the country. Which means support our president Elect. right now and give him a chance and if he doesn't do the job we hired him and the rest of congress to do then remember that on election day and forget about parties and put the best people in office to do the job to fix this mess.
Didn't Pelousy want to give American Samoa another 20 million dollars for her husbands investment, bet she is pissed off she can't use our money to bail out herself.

Although we are uncertain of what President Obama will do over the next four years, I can honestly say that this is a change in Washington that I can believe in. I am proud of the fact that he made clear to Congress that they will not waste the tax payers money on unnecessary projects just so thay can get kickbacks from the contractors. Go Boma
Yes!!!!` Go Boma`. ; )
"I am proud of the fact that he made clear to Congress that they will not waste the tax payers money on unnecessary projects"
His project IS a waste of tax payers' money on an unnecessary project. Take from the job creators to provide a short term immediate payout to the non-creators. And what has happened every time this has been attempted? That's right, job loss, inflated costs, and the money disappearing shortly afterwards with us still suffering from its long term results. I cannot believe that he believes the majority of Americans actually think this is a good idea. It just recently failed miserably, with us still suffering from the attempt, why on earth is he trying it again? I would love an easy grand right now, but not when it's going to cost mor than that in the long run. We can't afford the equivalent of a loan with an unyieldy high interest rate that will bite us all in the butt. He just made it abundantly clear to Congress that his very goal is to waste the tax payers' money on harmful projects, all disguised to fool those who don't think past the next two minutes. That's the single worst message he should be spreading, and I am not only not proud of this disgrace, I am disgusted.
Beck-You want to know what is the real waste of taxpayer dollars? Paying GWB's salary and all of his Texas buddies salaries while they screwed, stole and sacrificed our tax dollars, our country, our military and our country's reputation for the almighty dollar. Now that is the real waste of taxpayer dollars.
Lets JUST see how much DRAG the new BOSS has with the BOYS on the HILL, and HOW good his "VOWS" really are? There are two kinds of Baloney, one with MEAT, the other with WELL "COOKED" GOOD MEANING?
